BRF Fund Description
The VanEck Vectors Brazil Small-Cap ETF tracks a market-cap-weighted index of Brazilian small-cap firms.
BRF Factset Analytics Insight
BRF tracks the performance of the MVIS Brazil Small-Cap Index for a reasonable price. It does not provide a particularly tight fit to our chosen benchmark, though its size, sector, and valuation tilts are—at the most—moderate. That may not sit well with long-term investors looking for a mirror image of our MSCI benchmark, but we should stress that the fund’s take on the Brazilian small-cap space isn’t wrong, just different. Traders will have to contend with modest daily volume and often sizeable spreads, while institutional investors may also struggle to find good execution due to the weak underlying liquidity of these securities. The fund charges a reasonable fee for a specialized single-country fund, and recovers some of its costs via securities lending.
