DES Fund Description

The WisdomTree U.S. SmallCap Dividend Fund tracks an index of dividend-paying US stocks. The dividend-weighted index is a small-cap subset of the WisdomTree Dividend Index.

DES Factset Analytics Insight

Amid the cacophony of the many US small-cap ETFs, WisdomTree offers a different choice: a fund focused on yield. DES's strategy does indeed provide higher dividend yield than the market. To get yield, the fund overweights dividend-heavy sectors like utilities, while underweighting more growth-oriented segments like tech. DES also leans toward the micro-cap side of the small-cap space. The fund is large and liquid enough for all but the most active traders, and it tracks reasonably well. For investors looking for plain vanilla small-cap exposure, other ETFs on the market do a better job. But DES gets it done for small-cap dividends, earning a spot on our Opportunities list.
