HYIHXtrackers High Yield Corporate Bond Interest Rate Hedged ETF
HYIH Fund Description
The Xtrackers High Yield Corporate Bond Interest Rate Hedged ETF tracks an index of USD-denominated high-yield corporate bonds, matched with short positions in Treasury futures of equivalent duration to protect against a potential rise in interest rates
HYIH Factset Analytics Insight
HYIH seizes on 2 popular themes: the hunt for yield; and the fear of rising interest rates. The recent drop in oil prices and related problems in the debt of some riskier energy companies have depressed prices of high-yield bonds across the board and increased their allure to yield-hungry investors. At the same time, Treasury rates are hovering near historic lows with the potential to start rising. HYIH invests in USD-denominated bonds of companies deemed below investment grade by 1 or more credit rating agencies. To mitigate interest-rate risk, it goes short on Treasury futures of similar duration as the overall corporate bond portfolio. HYIH uses several selection screens to pick only the most liquid bond offerings, while still keeping the portfolio representative of the broad US high-yield market.
