MZZ provides daily geared inverse (-2x) exposure to the S&P MidCap 400 Index. It charges 95 bps for holding index swaps and futures, and swaps on the SPDR S&P MidCap 400 ETF (MDY).excellent implied block liquidity The underlying index comprises 400 US midcap companies in a variety of sectors. It’s a leveraged version of MYY, which seeks -1x exposure to the same index. With very little in AUM, with a medium closure risk, MZZ is much less popular than MYY. MZZ’s spread drives up its round-trip cost. It also has less than desirable daily volume, which is nowhere near sufficient for active trading. Note: Due to daily compounding, it’s unlikely to achieve its stated exposure and returns for longer than a one-day period.
