UST Fund Description

The ProShares Ultra 7-10 Year Treasury ETF provides 2x leveraged exposure to an index that tracks the daily performance of US Treasury bonds with remaining maturities between 7 and 10 years.

UST Factset Analytics Insight

UST is a leveraged play on the intermediate portion of the US Treasury yield curve, providing 2x exposure to the daily returns of an index of US Treasury securities with 7 to 10 year years remaining in maturity. Targeting this pocket gives UST significant interest rate sensitivity, and sets it apart from the many funds that target 1 to 10 year Treasury securities. The daily reset feature means investors shouldn't expect the return and leverage factor to remain consistent for more than a single day, meaning this is really a tactical tool rather than something to be held long-term. That also means that trading costs matter much more here than fees, and on this front UST has some vulnerabilities. It trades thinly most days, often with sizeable spreads, so investors should pay close attention to its daily trading characteristics to determine if it has enough liquidity to support same-day entry and exit.

UST changed its underlying index from Bloomberg Barclays U.S. 7-10 Year Treasury Bond Index to ICE U.S. Treasury 7-10 Year Bond Index on 10/14/2016. The change has minimal impact on investors' exposure.
