VTHR Fund Description

The Vanguard Russell 3000 ETF tracks a cap-weighted index that measures the investable US equities market, covering the entire market-cap spectrum including micro-caps.

VTHR Factset Analytics Insight

VTHR is aims to deliver the US total market by tracking the Russell 3000. It succeeds, lining up almost perfectly with our market benchmark by every measure. It's also one of the broadest and most diverse funds in the space, carrying more holdings than the average in this sector, including our benchmark. Sector biases are minor. Daily trading volume is thin, but it does trade regularly and spreads are reasonable. Careful investors can access VTHR fairly using limit orders. For larger investors, strong underlying liquidity supports cost-effective block trading. Like all Vanguard funds, fees are low, though it does tend to lag its index by more than its fee. VTHR is a cost-effective way of delivering the Russell 3000. Also consider iShares’ IWV and SSgA’s THRK, which track the same index.
