iShares plans to launch a new bond ETF comprised of Latin American corporate and sovereign debt. The new bond ETF will compete with Van Eck’s Market Vectors LatAm Aggregate Bond ETF (ticker:BONO). iShares has launched eight country-specific sovereign debt ETFs on the London Stock Exchange, the first ETFs of their kind. Merk Gold Trust intends to launch a new gold ETF, using the ticker OUNZ, with one key difference which sets it apart from the others. Shares may be delivered to the trust in exchange for physical gold. Read more here.

In an article published at Forbes.com today, noteworthy inflows into specific ETFs are mentioned, in particular VTI, the Vanguard Total Stock Market Index which saw over $100 million in inflows in the past week. The source cited ETFChannel, also mentions noteworthy inflows in PFF, CFT, and others.

Van Eck announced that it has reduced the expense ratio  on its Market Vectors Indonesia ETF (IDX) by 5%.

The expense ratio has been reduced from 0.60% to 0.57%, undercutting its competitor by 2 basis points.

Vanguard has reduced fees on thirteen ETFs, including the Total Stock Market Index, the Vanguard S&P 500 Index.

Vanguard cites the increasing AUM in the ETFs making the lower fees possible. Vanguard is currently the 3rd largest ETF provider in the U.S.

Vanguard recently reported that it was lowering fees on its sector ETF fund family.

Most of the fees are being reduced from 0.24 percent to .019 percent, slightly lower than many of competitor SSgA’s sector funds expense ratio of .20 percent.

Recently reported by Barrons, according to Lipper data, for the week ending Dec. 21st, equity funds (excluding ETFs) saw an outflow of $5.46 billion.

In contrast however, ETFs recorded an inflow of $6.23 billion.
