Eurex Launches Futures on Sector Indices

April 01, 2001

Eurex, the international derivatives market, on March 19 launched eight new futures contracts on the sector indices, the Dow Jones STOXX 600 and the Dow Jones Euro STOXX. The new futures contracts cover the euro zone and European area, respectively, in the banking, technology, telecommunications and healthcare sectors. The sector index futures are designed along the same lines as the existing Dow Jones Euro STOXX 50 futures.

In addition to the eight newly introduced sector index futures, six futures have been traded in the index segment at Eurex to date, including futures on the Dow Jones Euro STOXX 50 and the Dow Jones STOXX 50, the indices upon which exchange traded funds have been built.
