Europe ETF EZU was the biggest asset gainer on Wednesday, Aug. 14, and GLD grabbed $90 million; markets and total U.S.-listed ETF assets slid.

The iShares MSCI EMU ETF (NYSEArca: EZU), a Europe-focused fund, snagged $175 million on Wednesday, Aug. 14, but inflows into the SPDR Gold fund (NYSEArca: GLD) upstaged those gains, as GLD added $90 million, landing atop asset gainers for the second time in five days of trading.

Meanwhile, U.S.-listed ETF assets retreated to $1.545 trillion, and the S&P 500 dropped 8.77 points, or 0.52 percent, closing at 1,685.39.
