U.S. Equities Remain King but Diversification Plays Grow
Equities ruled the roost, both at home and abroad, as investors picked up more tech exposures while also diversifying their portfolios.
While the Invesco QQQ Trust Series I (QQQ) remained the top ETF picked up by investors on April 28, international equity ETFs benefitted from renewed interest as portfolio diversification plays gained momentum. The iShares MSCI World ETF (URTH) and the iShares Core MSCI EAFE ETF (IEFA) were top choices as international equity ETFs added $960 million in net flows. That said, U.S. equities still dominated with nearly $5.8 billion in flows. And as interest rates held steady, investors moved $1.7 billion into U.S. fixed income ETFs.
On the redemptions side, outflows continued in gold and investors extended their retreat from the ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK). Small-caps also remain a hard sell for investors looking to increase mega-cap tech and large-cap growth exposures as market momentum continues.
