It combines a bullish view on ESG leaders — those with high ESG score determined by ESG rating and trend results and bearish view on ESG laggards — those with low ESG score. 37 different ESG issues like climate change, human capital, and product liability compose the ESG rating results. Conversely, trend results tackle the ESG rating change of a security. ESNG’s index strategy is based on the daily return spread between the ESG leaders and ESG laggards which are considered as its component indexes. Sector neutrality is considered in weighting the constituents to reflect sectors of the MSCI USA index. A 5% cap is further applied to issuers. The fund uses derivatives. Its issuer, known for geared products, should be well-versed in using them. As always, short exposure brings the drag of dividends owed to the lender.
