While U.S. markets recovered somewhat from today’s downdraft, investors punished European ETFs, with
Italy’s EWI leading the way down.

 

There was $12.8 billion in net creation activity among the U.S.-listed ETFs last week.

The storyline for 2006 is one of ex-US outperformance. If it's a tale that sounds familiar, it should. Foreign markets have taken center stage since 2002, handily beating the S&P 500 thanks to some head-turning growth in emerging markets, low global interest rates, and a weaker US dollar.

iShares lowers fees on many of its international ETFs, but not, curiously, on emerging markets.
