First Trust Rolls Out Electric-Grid-Linked ETF


First Trust Advisors, together with the NASDAQ OMX Group and Clean Edge, have launched the first exchange-traded fund to invest in the electric infrastructure sector.

The First Trust Nasdaq Clean Edge Smart Grid Infrastructure Index Fund (Nasdaq: GRID) will track the Nasdaq OMX Clean Edge Smart Grid Infrastructure Index, which is a modified market capitalization index comprised of companies involved in electric grid, meters, devices and network, energy storage and management, and sector-related software.

IndexIQ Launches Play On M&A


IndexIQ launched today the first exchange-traded fund to invest in global companies that are the targets of a takeover.

M&A products are not new to investors, but IndexIQ’s new offering is the first play on that space in an ETF structure.

WisdomTree Registers New Inflation-Linked ETF


WisdomTree Trust has registered with the SEC a new exchange-traded fund that seeks to give investors long-term returns above the rate of inflation.

To do so, the WisdomTree Real Return Fund (NYSEArca: RRF) will invest in inflation-linked securities such as U.S. Treasury Inflation Protected Securities (TIPS), bonds and commodities instruments.

RRF will be the newest member in an expanding group of ETFs that seeks to capitalize on investors' rising fears of inflation.
