Former Gold Fans Search For New Havens

January 10, 2012

Investors seeking a new safe haven after gold dropped 7 percent in the past few months may want to consider investing in favorable currency crosses among other options, according to an article in Smart Money.

For example, if the euro plunges, ETFs like the CurrencyShares Australian Dollar Trust (NYSEArca: FXA) or the CurrencyShares Canadian Dollar Trust (NYSEArca: FXC) would benefit.

Other options mentioned in the article include buying emerging-markets bonds, and investing in mutual funds that seek to profit from mergers and acquisitions.
