Midcap ETFs Gain Favor

March 15, 2012

Investors are shifting toward midcap funds, like the iShares S&P Mid-Cap 400 Index Fund (NYSEArca: IJH), in a bid to maximize returns and minimize volatility as the market swings upward, according to an article on The Street.

Midcaps have the best of both worlds: They were able to survive hits to equities last week as concerns over China and Greece arose; and, at the same time, have enough small-cap exposure to have upside potential, the article said.

Since the year’s start, IJH has gained close to 15 percent and demonstrated its resilience, as it quickly recovered from last week’s bumps, hitting new highs for 2012, according to the Street.
