Amundi has hired Benoit Sorel as global head of ETF, indexing and smart beta as Arnaud Llinas departs after two years with the firm.

Sorel joins from BlackRock and will be responsible for leading the French asset manager’s passive arm.

Llinas joined Amundi following its [acquisition of Lyxor](https://www.etfstream.com/articles/amundi-completes-lyxor-acquisition) and has been head of ETFs, indexing and smart beta for the past two years.

Prior to this, he spent 11 years at Lyxor, most recently as head of ETFs and indexing.

An Amundi spokesperson said: “Arnaud Llinas is leaving Amundi. We would like to thank him for his contribution to the integration of Lyxor ETF within Amundi.”

Sorel joins from BlackRock where he has been responsible for leading the EMEA product and distribution strategy for ETFs and investing since 2018.

Prior to this, he was head of sales for ETFs and index investing for France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Monaco at BlackRock between 2011 and 2018.

He previously held senior sales roles at Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank and Bank of America.

Amundi has been undergoing a major revamp of its ETF range following its acquisition of Lyxor, which has seen it [merge](https://www.etfstream.com/articles/amundi-to-merge-bond-and-esg-etfs-housing-usd9bn) its former rival’s product set into its own.

The French asset manager currently houses $203bn UCITS ETF assets under management, as at the end of Q3, according to data from ETFbook.
