On net, $16.1 billion flowed into U.S.-listed ETFs during the week ending Friday, Aug. 2. That included $9 billion of inflows for U.S. equity ETFs and $6.9 billion of inflows for U.S. fixed income ETFs. Year-to-date inflows stood at $532 billion at the end of the week, leaving them on track for a record year. The S&P 500 dropped nearly 100 points, or 2% last week, as investors worried about an economic slowdown. Bonds headed the other way, with the 10-year Treasury yield dropping below 4% for the first time since February. The strong showing for bonds was reflected in the flows figures: investors added $1.7 billion to the [**iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (TLT)**](/tlt). Meanwhile, the stock market sell-off didn’t deter long-term investors from adding to their equity positions. The [**iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV)**](/ivv) and the [**Vanguard 500 Index Fund (VOO)**](/voo) picked up $6.6 billion and $2.7 billion of fresh cash, respectively. On the other hand, ETFs popular with shorter-term traders registered outflows. The [**Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ)**](/qqq) and the [**SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY)**](/spy) had weekly outflows of $5 billion and $4.6 billion, respectively.
