U.S.-listed ETFs raked in $37.7 billion of inflows during the week ending Friday, June 20, even with markets closed midweek for the Juneteenth holiday. The surge brings year-to-date inflows to $512 billion, putting 2025 on track to be another trillion-dollar year for inflows.

U.S. equity ETFs led the way with $18.4 billion of inflows, followed by $11.8 billion into international equity ETFs. U.S. and international fixed-income ETFs added just over $2 billion apiece.

While the headline numbers were eye-catching, the data were muddied by what appeared to be a flurry of tax-related “[heartbeat](https://businesslawreview.uchicago.edu/print-archive/unplugging-heartbeat-trades-and-reforming-taxation-etfs#heading-7)” trades—temporary inflows and outflows often used to minimize capital gains. A standout example was the [**Invesco S&P 500 Quality ETF (SPHQ)**](/SPHQ), which saw $3.7 billion in inflows likely to be reversed soon.

## IBIT, GLD Stand Out

Still, not all of last week’s flows were noise. Two of the top 10 inflow recipients were likely genuine: the [**iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT)**](/IBIT), which pulled in $1.4 billion, and the [**SPDR Gold Shares (GLD)**](/GLD), which added $1.1 billion. Both benefited from safe-haven demand amid escalating geopolitical tensions involving Israel and Iran.

On the outflow side, the [**SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY)**](/SPY), the iShares [**iBoxx $ Investment Grade Corporate Bond ETF (LQD)**](/LQD) and the [**SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF Trust (DIA)**](/DIA) saw the largest redemptions.

For a full list of the top inflows and outflows from last wee, see the tables below:
