Looking to invest in companies based in or near the Arctic Circle? Investors may soon have a new way to do so via the [**GlacierShares Arctic Circle ETF**](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1683471/000089418925004951/glaciershares485a.htm), according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission posted Thursday.

Should it be approved, the passive exchange-traded fund would track the MarketVector Arctic Circle Index. The management fee is 0.95%, and the ticker wasn’t disclosed in the filing. The effective date of the filing is September 23, 2025.

## Exposure to the Arctic Circle

The MarketVector Arctic Circle Index tracks the performance of stocks of companies headquartered in or near the Arctic Circle with a headquartered address that has a latitude coordinate above 60° North latitude, per the filing. That currently includes companies in Finland, Norway, Sweden, Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, the United States and Canada.

Companies closer to the Arctic Circle have a higher weight in the index.

The fund comes from the same team as the one behind the [**GlacierShares Nasdaq Iceland ETF (GLCR)**](/GLCR), which tracks the MarketVector Iceland Global Total Return Net Index. The index tracks the performance of Icelandic companies and companies related to the Icelandic economy.

The investment advisor listed on the new filing, [Teucrium Investment Advisors](https://www.etf.com/topics/teucrium), didn’t immediately respond to etf.com’s request for comment. Teucrium, which offers white-label ETF services, is also the advisor of GLCR.

## An Increase in Niche ETFs

The GlacierShares Arctic Circle ETF is a hyper-niche product and is designed for what is likely a small subset of investors that are bullish on companies that are headquartered near the arctic circle, Morningstar passive strategies analyst Zach Evens told etf.com.

“Why they’re bullish? I’m not really sure,” he said. “But for a 0.95% fee, if launched, investors can get exposure to those firms in this [thematic ETF](https://www.etf.com/sections/advisor-center/blackrock-ai-and-geopolitical-themes).”

Evens said the research firm has seen an increased number of niche product launches recently as ETF providers try to differentiate themselves from the increasingly crowded pack.

“This ETF would certainly be different,” he added.
