This episode of *Behind the Ticker* with host Brad Roth, CIO of Thor Financial Technologies, features a unique spin on options investing and earnings season with Carter Worth, Co-Founder and CEO of Worth Charting. The two dive into the [**Worth Charting Options Income ETF (WRTH)**](https://www.etf.com/WRTH) as well as the methodology underpinning Worth Charting’s approach to option investing and timing.

- **Carter Worth's unconventional path to pure price analysis.** Worth started his career by answering a newspaper job ad and beating out 40 applicants for a junior analyst seat at Value Line. From there he was moved to DLJ, one of Wall Street's most elite boutique research firms, doing fundamental work before gradually incorporating price study into his process. Eventually he abandoned fundamentals entirely, and after 35 years across major sell-side firms, founded Worth Charting as an independent research boutique serving the largest institutional capital pools globally.
- **The mechanics behind WRTH's probability-stacking strategy.** The fund sells short strangles, simultaneously writing both calls and puts on the same underlying, using four compounding filters that dramatically shift the odds in its favor. Starting from a baseline of 70–75% for all short-dated OTM options, the filters (large caps only, 10%+ OTM, post-earnings events only) stack up to a ~93% probability of expiring worthless. Crucially, the fund takes no directional view only banking on a stock staying in a range after a significant move.
- **Why WRTH is designed for conservative capital, not aggressive traders.** The fund targets S&P-like returns of 9–12% annually with max drawdowns under 6% and no down years. With 40 equal-weighted positions, cash collateral parked in T-bills, and far OTM calls as tail hedges, the structure is built to absorb shocks without blowing up. Worth positions it as a replacement for low-volatility fixed income or covered-call funds, as conservative sleeve capital that deserves better-than-bond income with minimal S&P correlation.
