May continued to be a positive month for ETF inflows, as the space netted $6.1 billion during the week ending Thursday, May 10. U.S. equity ETFs saw $6.8 billion in inflows, including powerhouses like the [iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV)](https://www.etf.com/IVV) and the [PowerShares QQQ Trust (QQQ)](https://www.etf.com/QQQ). Year-to-date inflows now stand at $94.7 billion.

A solid rally in equity markets this week gave investors confidence to put new money to work. The S&P 500 climbed 2.3% week-over-week thanks to a 4.1% jump in the energy sector. U.S. oil prices topped $70 for the first time since 2014 this week after President Trump pulled the country out of the Iran nuclear deal.

A weaker-than-expected reading on U.S. consumer price inflation also aided the S&P 500, which now sits at the highest level in nearly two months. That inflation reading also pushed interest rates down from their highs of the week. The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield briefly hit 3.01% before falling to 2.97%. Still, it was up about 3 basis points from last week.

With yields biased upward, fixed-income investors favored short-duration bond ETFs, such as the [iShares 1-3 Year Treasury Bond ETF (SHY)](https://www.etf.com/shy) and the [Schwab Short-Term US Treasury ETF (SCHO)](https://www.etf.com/SCHO).

On the other hand, the [iShares iBoxx USD High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (HYG)](https://www.etf.com/HYG), the [iShares iBoxx $ Investment Grade Corporate Bond ETF (LQD)](https://www.etf.com/lqd) and the [iShares 20+ Treasury Bond ETF (TLT)](https://www.etf.com/tlt) were a trio of bond ETFs to fall out of favor during the week.

In aggregate, U.S. fixed-income ETFs had a net $1.1 billion of inflows.
