SPY hauled in $756.7 million on Wednesday, Feb. 7, as total U.S.-listed ETF assets rose to nearly $1.183 trillion, a record.
Investors poured $756.7 million into the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (NYSEArca: SPY), making it No. 1 on IndexUniverse’s “Top 10 Creations” list, as total U.S.-listed ETFs rose to yet another record high. Stocks recorded modest gains on news that Greece might actually be on the verge of making a debt deal.
Net flows were $1.12 billion and total assets under management rose to a new record of $1.183 trillion from the previous record of almost $1.177 trillion set on Tuesday, Feb. 6.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up by 5.75 points, or 0.04 percent, to close at 12,883.95. Stocks were up in response to positive news coming from Greece as well as renewed confidence in the U.S. economy. The S&P 500 was up 2.91 points, or 0.2 percent, to close at 1,349.96.
The No. 2 fund on the Top 10 Creations list was the Vanguard MSCI Emerging Markets Index Fund (NYSEArca: VWO), which had inflows of $458.4 million. The No. 3 fund was the iShares MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (NYSEArca: EEM), which had inflows of $216.5 million.
Redemptions
The No. 1 fund on IndexUniverse’s “Top 10 Redemptions” list was the iShares MSCI EAFE Index Fund (NYSEArca: EFA), which had outflows of $486.6 million.
The No. 2 fund on the redemptions list was the iShares Russell 2000 Index Fund (NYSEArca: IWM), which had outflows of $285.3 million. The No. 3 fund on the list was the iShares Barclays 1-3 Year Credit Bond Fund (NYSEArca: CSJ), which had outflows of $188.4 million.
