IBIT Attracts $877M Amid Trump's Latest Tariff Threat
- IBIT led ETF inflows despite the market selloff on Friday.
- Treasury bond ETFs gained as trade tensions escalated.
The iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) pulled in $877.2 million Friday, increasing its total assets to $72.7 billion, according to data provided by FactSet. The inflows came as markets tumbled, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling 256 points after President Donald Trump threatened new tariffs on Apple Inc. (AAPL) and the European Union.
The iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (TLT) attracted $851.8 million as investors sought safe havens amid renewed trade tensions, while the iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV) gained $761.5 million despite the S&P 500 dropping 0.7%. The Vanguard Total Bond Market ETF (BND) pulled in $403.4 million.
The iShares Russell 1000 ETF (IWB) saw the largest outflows at $592.6 million, while the iShares Russell 2000 ETF (IWM) lost $477.6 million and the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) experienced outflows of $325.2 million.
U.S. fixed-income ETFs collected $1.5 billion in inflows, while currency ETFs gained $954.5 million. U.S. equity ETFs saw outflows of $674.7 million as Apple shares fell 3% on Trump's tariff threat. Overall, ETFs attracted $2 billion for the day.
