SPY, IVV, VOO See $2B Exodus Amid Market Pullback

Core S&P 500 ETFs led outflows Thursday as investors pulled more than $2 billion from the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) and iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV) and Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) combined, according to etf.com daily fund flows data. The outflows came as stocks retreated following Walmart Inc.'s (WMT) disappointing forecast.
In addition to the S&P 500 fund outflows, the Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3x Shares (SOXL) saw $363.8 million exit the fund while the iShares iBoxx $ Investment Grade Corporate Bond ETF (LQD) shed $301.4 million amid the broad market decline.
On the inflows side, the Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) attracted $998 million, while the SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) added $541.9 million. Both the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) and VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH) added over $360 million.
International equity funds led asset class flows with over $3 billion in new assets, while commodity ETFs gained $813 million. Leveraged ETFs saw outflows of $537.8 million, and US equity funds added $351.8 million as the ETF industry recorded total net inflows of $4.5 billion for the day.
