Daily ETF Watch: 2015 Fund Launches Top 100
ETF launches are now above 100 in 2015, and the pace is ahead of year-earlier launches.
The number of ETF launches in 2015 has now topped 100 funds, with this year’s year-to-date total of 112 well ahead of the 99 launches over the same year-earlier period.
Indeed, it looks likely at this time that the total number of launches this year will exceed the 202 launches in all of 2014, according to data compiled by ETF.com.
The robust number of rollouts, coming in a year when total inflows of fresh money into ETFs look likely to exceed last year’s record inflows of $243 billion, suggests that the ETF is moving from the perimeter of the investment universe to center stage. A plethora of investors, from individuals to advisors to hedge funds to institutions, are beginning to use ETFs.
In sum, total U.S.-listed ETF assets now stand at $2.145 trillion, and the total number of ETFs and exchange-traded notes now on the market are at nearly 1,700, according to data compiled by ETF.com.
