Natural Gas Looks To Pause In Aug. Before Resuming Climb To $3.50 And Higher

July 26, 2012

The year-over-year inventory surplus continues to decline, but the pace slowed last week.

Natural gas was steady today near $3.10 after the Energy Information Administration reported that operators injected 26 billion cubic feet into storage last week.

The figure was in line with expectations, but below the year-ago and five-year average injections of 43 bcf and 80 bcf, respectively.

In turn, the inventory surplus continued to decline, but as expected, that decline has begun to slow.
