May 20, 2014

Exchange traded fund provider Invesco PowerShares has announced that Bryon Lake will head up the ETF business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa as part of the provider’s efforts to build out its business in the region.

Lake steps into the newly created role from his previous job as head of global business development at the provider. Lake has been at PowerShares since 2002 when he joined the firm in the U.S.

In his new role he will be responsible for driving the strategic direction of the business and providing leadership to all aspects of the ETF business.  He also has responsibility for collaborating with Invesco’s global ETF teams, working to identify and harness the strength of Invesco’s broader offering.

Mark Armour, senior managing director and head of EMEA at Invesco, said: “As the demand for alternatively-weighted ETFs continues to grow, Bryon’s appointment marks a commitment to strengthening our resource within EMEA.  His expertise and drive will enable us to deliver Invesco Powershares’ innovative products to investors in Europe.”

Invesco PowerShares is the fourth largest ETF provider globally and, according to a note from the provider, was the first-to-market with Smart Beta ETFs.
