The former head of product strategy at ETF powerhouse, iShares, which is owned by global asset management firm BlackRock, has joined ETF research house, ETFGI LLP.
Feargal Dempsey joins former BlackRock colleague, Deborah Fuhr, who is managing partner at ETFGI LLP, as partner and legal counsel.
Dempsey will also work alongside two other ex-BlackRock employees, Shane Kelly, head of research and Matthew Murray, head of analytics, who both moved with Fuhr when she left BlackRock last year.
Dempsey is a qualified lawyer in England, Wales and Ireland, with over 16 years’ experience in financial services law and a particular focus on investment products, ETFs and structured instruments including exchange traded notes and commodities.
Feargal Dempsey told IndexUniverse.eu: "The large volumes of incoming regulation and consultation papers are going to have a profound change on the legal and regulatory landscape, which presents challenges and also opportunities for the ETF market and, more broadly for the funds industry as a whole. This raises the need for independent bodies and consultants in the ETF market."
Deborah Fuhr, managing partner at ETFGI, said in a statement: “With the large number of new guidelines and consultations and the ever-changing regulatory landscape, Feargal brings significant experience and a unique perspective and insight that will be welcomed by our clients.”
Since Dempsey's departure from iShares in February he has not been replaced.
