2012 Was Forgettable For These Emerging Market ETFs

January 04, 2013

Funds like the iShares MSCI Philippines ETF (NYSEArca: EPHE) and the iShares Turkey Index Fund (NYSEArca: TUR) served as fine examples of the resurgence of emerging markets in 2012, but it’s worth noting that a number of ETFs focused on the developing world fell short last year, according to an article on Zacks.

The article said the following funds produced lackluster returns relative to other country-specific emerging market ETFs:

  • Market Vectors Vietnam ETF (NYSEArca: VNM)
  • Market Vectors Indonesia ETF (NYSEArca: IDX)
  • PowerShares Golden Dragon China Portfolio (NYSEArca: PGJ)
