Invesco PowerShares will be paying capital gains distributions in only one of its 117 ETFs for 2009.
This marks the first time ever the company has posted capital gains on any of its ETFs since its inception in 2003.
The PowerShares Nasdaq-100 BuyWrite Portfolio (NasdaqGM: PQBW) has posted long-term capital gains of $0.14639 per share due to the underlying index methodology, which writes covered calls on the Nasdaq-100 Index.
According to the company, “PQBW is unique in the fact that it accounts for its gain or loss on its investments for federal income tax purposes on a daily market-to-market basis.”
No short-term capital gains distributions were posted.
