In today's fast-paced financial markets, staying informed and organized is crucial for successful investing. An ETF watchlist, like etf.com’s My Watchlist, can help track constantly evolving performance, news, and trends.

Whether you’re a beginning investor or a seasoned financial advisor, My Watchlist is a valuable portfolio management and market monitoring tool for both exchange-traded funds and stocks.

How etf.com’s My Watchlist Works

Logged-in users can access My Watchlist from the My Portfolio link in the top navigation area of the etf.com homepage. If a user hasn’t already started an ETF watchlist, they can simply click on the “Start a Watchlist” link, name the new watchlist, and start adding tickers. The tool allows the addition of ETFs or stocks by typing in and selecting tickers.

New watchlists can be added in the Watchlist Settings dropdown and users can track up to five lists.

The most recent enhancement to My Watchlist is the ability for users to add ETFs or stocks from their watchlist to a portfolio by selecting the securities from the list and clicking on the Add to Portfolio button. You can also create a portfolio from a watchlist by clicking on “Convert to a Portfolio.”

Benefits of Using an ETF Watchlist

With the vast array of ETFs available in the market, choosing the right ones for your portfolio or creating benchmarks to monitor performance and trends can be overwhelming. This is where an ETF watchlist can help to make informed decisions.

Here are some of the many potential benefits of using an ETF watchlist:

  • Research and analysis: Gather information about ETFs, such as their investment objectives, holdings, and performance.
  • Save time: A targeted approach reduces the time spent researching and analyzing new ETFs, allowing you to make quicker and more informed investment decisions.
  • Identify opportunities: Monitor the prices to identify potential buying or selling opportunities.
  • Track news and updates: Stay informed about news and events that may affect the performance of ETFs on your watchlist.
  • Test a portfolio: Monitor the price movements of ETFs in a hypothetical portfolio to observe how it performs before buying shares.
  • Custom benchmark tracking: ETFs are commonly used as benchmarks to monitor large market segments, such as U.S. equity or fixed income, or to targeted areas like real estate, commodities, or cryptocurrency.

My Watchlist Enhancements, More etf.com Tools

Incorporating an ETF watchlist into your strategy can help you track the performance, news, and other relevant information about these ETFs. By streamlining decision-making, enabling continuous monitoring, and reducing emotional biases, an ETF watchlist can enhance your ability to seize opportunities and manage risk effectively.

In addition to these powerful features, watch for coming enhancements to the My Watchlist tool, including functionality across other tools and fund pages, allowing ease for users to add to their watchlists and build better portfolios.

These features and enhancements also complement other etf.com tools, including the Markets Monitor, the ETF screener, the fund flows tool, and the ETF comparison tool.
