Alliance Bernstein ETF Arm Nabs BlackRock, JPMorgan Alums
The new additions follow the appointment of State Street’s Noel Archard in February.
Alliance Bernstein has hired Brett Sheely from BlackRock Inc. to serve as the head of ETF specialists as well as Jason Thalmann from JPMorgan as the firm’s ETF operations manager.
Alongside Sheely’s and Thalmann’s appointments came the addition of Julie Gunts as the global head of strategy and partnerships, according to a company statement.
The asset manager, which has more than $735 billion in assets under management, announced in February that it would be launching its first active ETF in the U.S. later this year.
The addition of Sheely, Gunts and Thalmann follows the news of former State Street Senior Managing Director Noel Archard moving to the firm to serve as the global head of ETFs and portfolio solutions nearly seven months ago.
“These seasoned professionals will bring extensive industry knowledge that will further our ongoing commitment to building out our ETF platform for our clients,” Archard said in the statement.
Most recently, Sheely served as part of the business and sales strategy for the iShares ETF and retirement business at BlackRock, with previous experience at UBS Investment Bank. Gunts previously served as a director for strategy for fixed income at Alliance Bernstein, with previous experience at Citigroup. Thalmann joins the firm after three years within ETF product development at JPMorgan, with a prior stint at State Street, according to his LinkedIn profile.
