In this episode of Advisor Insider we talk with Jeff DeMaso, editor of the Independent Vanguard Adviser newsletter, about the fast-changing state of things at The Vanguard Group.

DeMaso gives a passing grade to Salim Ramji, who took over as Vanguard’s chief executive officer in early July, becoming the first CEO in Vanguard’s 49-year history to be hired from outside the company.

In terms of challenges facing Ramji in his new role, DeMaso said technology and customer service issues continue to hamper the $9.3 trillion asset manager. But help might be on the way, DeMaso said.

On the subject of cryptocurrency investing, DeMaso does not anticipate an abrupt about face for Vanguard, which came out early against crypto investing and continues to block access to spot bitcoin and spot Ethereum ETFs on its platform.
