Investors poured more than $21 billion into U.S. equity ETFs in the past week, roughly three weeks since the U.S. stock market forged some sort of a bottom following a steep correction in August.

The appetite for equitY exposure ranged from small- to mid- to large-cap stocks, with the SPDR S&P 500 (SPY | A-99) leading net creations in the past five days ended Thursday, Sept. 17. The S&P 500 rose about 2 percent in the same period, gains that came in anticipation and in reaction to the Federal Reserve's decision this week to keep interest rates unchanged for now.

International equity and U.S. fixed-income ETFs were also relatively popular this week. Those asset classes attracted $1.4 billion and $1.8 billion in fresh net assets, respectively, helping push total U.S.-listed ETF assets to $2.035 trillion.

The healthy inflows are a major departure from a muted month of August, when ETF creations slowed to a trickle, totalling only $2.7 billion in the entire month.
