ACT Fund Description

ACT is an actively managed fund that invests in US companies involved in alcohol-, cannabis-, or tobacco-related activities.

ACT Factset Analytics Insight

ACT is the first ETF of its kind. Contrary to popular ESG themes, ACT focuses solely on vice activities—it invests in US-listed companies that generate at least 50% of their revenue from alcohol-, cannabis-, or tobacco-related businesses. The fund’s active manager has broad discretion in which companies to select. The only notable constraint is that the fund must invest at least 25% of its assets in the consumer staples sector. Otherwise, ACT can invest across the industry spectrum and will generally select securities from the agriculture, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, real estate, retail, and financial sectors. In addition to cannabis business activities, companies involved in the production and use of hemp and cannabinoids are included. Only legal activities are included in the fund. The fund charges a higher fee than most actively managed US equity funds.

ACT MSCI ESG Analytics Insight

AdvisorShares Vice ETF has an MSCI ESG Fund Rating of A based on a score of 6.10 out of 10. The MSCI ESG Fund Rating measures the resiliency of portfolios to long-term risks and opportunities arising from environmental, social, and governance factors. ESG Fund Ratings range from best (AAA) to worst (CCC). Highly rated funds consist of companies that tend to show strong and/or improving management of financially relevant environmental, social and governance issues. These companies may be more resilient to disruptions arising from ESG events.

The fund’s Peer Rank reflects the ranking of a fund’s MSCI ESG Fund Quality Score against the scores of other funds within the same peer group, as defined by the Thomson Reuters Lipper Global Classification. AdvisorShares Vice ETF ranks in the 70th percentile within its peer group and in the 0th percentile within the global universe of all funds covered by MSCI ESG Fund Ratings.
