AOK Factset Analytics Insight
AOK is iShares' attempt at providing an all-encompassing conservative asset-allocation strategy to investors. The fund invests exclusively in iShares ETFs, targeting a conservative risk profile with an emphasis on fixed income ETFs. In general, the fund devotes around two-thirds of its portfolio in fixed income funds (like the iShares Core Total US Bond Market Fund IUSB) and around one-third to equity ETFs (like IVV). One can argue about the best mix of assets, but AOK doesn't dabble in security selection within each asset group, opting instead for vanilla exposure. With its significant asset base, AOK has a strong following, liquidity is adequate, and average spreads have stayed relatively tight (though they've widened on occasion). Charging a low fee, AOK offers a viable, no-nonsense take on a conservative but well-diversified asset mix.
