CHIE tracks a market-cap-weighted index of Chinese energy companies. The fund may include all capitalizations and incorporate all share classes, including A-shares.
CHIE Factset Analytics Insight
CHIE provides relatively diversified exposure to the concentrated Chinese energy sector. The fund tracks MSCI China Energy IMI Plus 10/50 Index, a capped version of our MSCI benchmark that makes practical concession which limits exposure to giant firms dominating the energy sector. Starting with all eligible Chinese companies of all capitalizations, CHIE selects those that are classified under the energy sector according to GICS and weights them by market-cap. At each quarterly rebalance, the fund employs a capping methodology so that no individual security has a weight greater than 10% and the aggregate weight of securities with over 5% weight of the index is capped at 50% weight of the portfolio. Prior to December 6, 2018, CHIE tracked a Solactive index of Chinese energy companies which includes electric and natural gas utilities as well as energy sector firms.

The MSCI ESG Fund Rating measures the resiliency of portfolios to long-term risks and opportunities arising from environmental, social, and governance factors. ESG Fund Ratings range from best (AAA) to worst (CCC). Highly rated funds consist of companies that tend to show strong and/or improving management of financially relevant environmental, social and governance issues. These companies may be more resilient to disruptions arising from ESG events.
The fund’s Peer Rank reflects the ranking of a fund’s MSCI ESG Fund Quality Score against the scores of other funds within the same peer group, as defined by the Thomson Reuters Lipper Global Classification. Global X MSCI China Energy ETF ranks in the 0th percentile within its peer group and in the 1st percentile within the global universe of all funds covered by MSCI ESG Fund Ratings.
CHIE MSCI FaCS and Factor Box
MSCI FaCS is a standard method for evaluating and reporting the Factor characteristics of equity portfolios including ETFs.
