DAX Fund Description

DAX tracks a cap-weighted, total return index of the 30 largest and most liquid securities traded on the Frankfurt Exchange.

DAX Factset Analytics Insight

DAX offers a concentrated, mega-cap play on German stocks. It tracks the most famous German equity index, the DAX, which holds the 30 largest German companies by market cap. Since most of Germany’s mega-caps are export-oriented, DAX can also be viewed as a play on Germany’s exporting prowess. Unlike some of its total-market peers, the ETF is not currency-hedged, meaning DAX investors are fully exposed to movements in the euro.DAX was by far the least expensive German equity ETF when it launched in 2014, but subsequent fee increases and a few new ultra-cheap total-market competitors have taken much of the shine off. Furthermore, weak investor interest to-date means DAX isn't cheap to trade, driving up all in costs. We also see elevated closure risk. Still, DAX is the only ETF offering exposure solely to German large-caps.The fund was rebranded from Recon Capital to Horizons in February 2017.
