DTD Fund Description

DTD tracks an index of U.S. companies selected and weighted based on the dollar amount of dividends paid.

DTD Factset Analytics Insight

DTD approaches the US Total Market focusing on dividends, selecting and weighting companies based on dollar amount of dividends to be paid over the next 12 months. Along the way, the fund makes sector bets such as overweighting consumer non-cyclicals and underweighting technology. These biases do help produce a higher-yielding portfolio for dividend-hungry investors, and make for a less risky fund overall. While DTD has decent volume, spreads tend to be sizeable and retail traders will definitely want to use limit orders to control costs. Underlying liquidity is excellent, however, so block traders should expect low costs for liquidity providers. While DTD can't be called cheap in this ultra-competitive space, its fee is hardly onerous, and tracking is in line with its overall expense ratio.
