DTN
WisdomTree U.S. Dividend ex-Financials FundDTN Fund Description
DTN tracks an index selected and weighted by dividends that excludes financial firms.
DTN Factset Analytics Insight
DTN offers investors a distinct alternative to other dividend-oriented funds in the segment by excluding financials altogether, a sector that represents roughly a sixth of our overall large-cap benchmark. The fund picks the ten firms in each of the nine remaining economic sectors with the highest indicated annual dividend yield (Annualizing the most recent yield figure makes it more forward looking but ignores other recent yield payment history.) As you'd expect, the resulting portfolio is significantly overweighting utilities and materials, and the dividend weighting scheme drives down the fund's tech exposure and average market cap. Add it all up and you get a broad portfolio with strong yield, a midcap bias, and no exposure to REITs. DTN trades well, though with wider spreads than retail investors might wish to see, and block liquidity is excellent. DTN isn't a particularly cheap fund, but tracking is generally tight and it's been tax efficient. For more yield with no financials, DTN gets it done.
