EWG Fund Description

EWG tracks a market-cap-weighted index of German companies. It covers the top 85% of German companies by market cap.

EWG Factset Analytics Insight

EWG holds a concentrated basket of German large- and midcaps that captures the German market very well. It omits small-caps, which are a minor part of the overall market. Vanilla exposure in this case means large names clustered at the top; just a handful of big firms dominate the portfolio. EWG’s traditional, market-cap-weighted exposure is unusual in context; peer funds are generally currency-hedged and/or factor-based, while mega-cap focused DAX lands in the large-cap Germany segment.EWG charges a middling fee but investors often pay less according to tracking difference data. Strong liquidity and a hefty asset base add to its appeal, and combined with its no-nonsense exposure, earn EWG our Analyst Pick for the segment.
