GRESIQ Global Resources ETF
GRES Fund Description
GRES tracks a multi-factor-weighted index of global natural resource companies, selected based on momentum. The index includes short exposure to US and international equity markets as a partial hedge.
GRES Factset Analytics Insight
GRES offers a portfolio of companies that operate in the natural resources space, with an equity-market hedge. The fund defines eight cap-weighted industry buckets, and then weights each bucket by a combination of price momentum and valuation changes, resulting in a portfolio that looks different even before its hedges are taken into account. GRES assigns 90% weight to its portfolio of natural resource firms, holds another 30% in short-term Treasurys, and then shorts two ETFs tracking US and developed-market equities, weighted at 10% each. As such, GRES may underperform its peers when the global equity market does well, but has the potential to outperform in down markets.
