GRNB Fund Description

GRNB tracks a market-value-weighted index of bonds issued for climate change mitigation or other environmentally beneficial projects, as identified by the Climate Bonds Initiative.

GRNB Factset Analytics Insight

GRNB is a rarity in the fixed income space: an ESG-focused fund with a global scope and passive management. The fund invests in bonds issued to finance “green” projects—primarily solar, wind, and low-carbon construction. Issuers must seek and receive certification from the Climate Bonds Initiative, a London-based NGO. GRNB may hold both corporate and government issues, with only a few restrictions: tax-exempt municipals are excluded, while sub-investment-grade issues are capped at 20% of the portfolio. Issuers may be located in any geography, but holdings must be either denominated in one of the G10 currencies, or issued outside of the home market of the issue currency—effectively excluding local-currency emerging-market bonds. GRNB launched in March 2017, and looks attractively priced in the context of its specialized niche and global reach.

GRNB MSCI ESG Analytics Insight
