HAP Fund Description

HAP tracks a multifactor-weighted index of global hard asset firms.

HAP Factset Analytics Insight

HAP holds a global portfolio of companies that generate at least half their revenues from the hard assets industry. It splits the industry into six sectors (agriculture, alternatives, base/industrial metals, energy, forest products and precious metals) and sets the weight of each based on global consumption. Within each sector, HAP weights companies by their market caps. Like our benchmark, the fund takes sizable positions in the oil & gas industry as well as the metals & mining space. HAP severely underweights the chemicals industry but still offers decent overall exposure which, coupled with its reasonable 50 bp expense ratio and tight tracking, explains its place on the Opportunities List for the segment.

HAP MSCI ESG Analytics Insight

VanEck Vectors Natural Resources ETF has an MSCI ESG Fund Rating of BBB based on a score of 5.65 out of 10. The MSCI ESG Fund Rating measures the resiliency of portfolios to long-term risks and opportunities arising from environmental, social, and governance factors. Highly rated funds consist of companies that tend to show strong and/or improving management of financially relevant environmental, social and governance issues. These companies may be more resilient to disruptions arising from ESG events.

The fund’s Peer Rank reflects the ranking of a fund’s MSCI ESG Fund Quality Score against the scores of other funds within the same peer group, as defined by the Thomson Reuters Lipper Global Classification. VanEck Vectors Natural Resources ETF ranks in the 55th percentile within its peer group and in the 66th percentile within the global universe of all funds covered by MSCI ESG Fund Ratings.
