HYLD Factset Analytics Insight
HYLD is an actively managed fund that invests in a portfolio of high-yield corporate bonds, loans, and stocks. With no baked-in diversification requirements, its portfolio tilts, yield and risks are fluid and portfolio exposure can sometimes concentrate in specific sectors and industries. The fund employs a “multi-manager” approach, whereby portions of the assets are allocated among sub-advisors. Exchange Traded Concepts, LLC serves as manager of the fund, while MacKay Shields and WhiteStar serve as sub-advisors. MacKay Shields performs investment analysis of each issuer to determine a security’s creditworthiness. WhiteStar, on the other hand, employs both top-down and bottom-up analyses to measure a security’s credit performance. It bears mentioning that HYLD may also own ETFs—including leveraged and inverse funds—to achieve its stated goals or to hedge exposure.
