JJS
iPath Series B Bloomberg Softs Subindex Total Return ETNJJS Fund Description
JJS tracks an index of soft commodity futures contracts with varying maturities.
JJS Factset Analytics Insight
JJS tracks an index of futures on agricultural softs: cotton, sugar, and coffee. The three commodities weighted by a combination of liquidity (2/3) and US dollar-weighted production (1/3). Contracts are tracked starting two to five months from maturity, depending on the commodity and the time of year, according to a fixed schedule. In any case, each contract is held until shortly before expiration. JJSs index dropped exposure to cocoa in 2005. The note is an unsecured liability of the issuer, Barclays. JJS replaced an older ETN with the same ticker. The newer, series B note tracks the same index and avoids path dependency issues that made its predecessor more expensive to hold over time. It also includes a call provision. The new version traded under the ticker JJSB until November 16, 2018.
