LTLProShares Ultra Telecommunications
LTL Fund Description
LTL provides 2x exposure to a market-cap-weighted index of fixed-line and mobile telephone companies.
LTL Factset Analytics Insight
As a levered product, LTL is not a buy-and-hold ETF; it’s a short-term tactical instrument. Like many levered funds, it delivers 2x exposure only for 1 day. Over longer periods, returns can vary significantly from 2x exposure to its underlying index—which is a small, highly concentrated basket of telecom companies. LTL’s high fee is more or less standard among geared ETFs, but as a short-term product, is less important than its liquidity. Unfortunately, spreads are wide, and most days go by without a single LTL trade. Investors can set limit orders near NAV, but with zero volume on most days, expect them to go unfilled. Unfortunately, there aren’t any other ETPs offering positive leveraged exposure focused exclusively on telecommunications.
