MDYG Fund Description

MDYG tracks a market-cap-weighted index of growth companies culled from the S&P 400.

MDYG Factset Analytics Insight

MDYG holds S&P MidCap 400 companies with high sales growth, high valuations, and momentum. It starts selecting constituents further down the market-cap spectrum than our benchmark does, leading to a much lower average market cap and even some exposure to small-caps. Unlike some of its peers, MDYG isn't a "pure growth" fund in that its methodology allows securities to be classified into multiple categories. As such, its holdings could overlap with so-called "core" funds or even "value" funds. The fund heavily overweights financials, while underweighting consumer cyclicals and energy, further tilting it away from our benchmark. MDYG's liquidity is a weak point: the fund trades in reasonable volume but with large spreads at times, so retail traders should use care. Block liquidity is excellent thanks to its underlying basket of US midcaps. MDYG charges a middling fee for its space, and tracking tends to be very tight, making Efficiency a strong point here.
