Invesco Dynamic Media ETFPBS Fund Description
PBS tracks an index of the U.S. media industry stocks. The index uses multifactor selection and tiered equal weighting.
PBS Factset Analytics Insight
Investors currently have only one choice for exposure to media stocks in an ETF, and it's not a pure play. Instead of delivering cap-weighted, market-like exposure to media and publishing firms, PBS selects stocks using multifactor screens. PBS defines the industry broadly enough to include IT, software, retail and other stocks that fall well outside of our media benchmark. Still, our pure play benchmark is quite narrow, which magnifies these differences. By size, the fund has about ½, the exposure to large caps compared with our benchmark. The fund's returns have lagged our benchmark over the past year. With a high fee and wobbly tracking, PBS' 'better mousetrap' isn’t cheap to hold, but investors have no alternatives in an ETF. Still, investors should be able to trade in and out of PBS fairly without additional undue costs.
