PGM
iPath Series B Bloomberg Platinum Subindex Total Return ETNPGM Fund Description
PGM tracks an index of one platinum futures contract at a time, rolled every three months.
PGM Factset Analytics Insight
PGM provides exposure to platinum by tracking a single futures contract on the metal, starting three months from maturity and held until shortly before expiration, according to a fixed schedule. This strategy produces performance that varies significantly from spot prices. PGM’s ETN structure means it avoids the higher collectibles tax rate applied to physically-held ETPs. PGM replaced an older ETN with the same ticker. The newer, series B note tracks the same index, but avoids path dependency issues. It also includes a call provision. The new version traded under the ticker PGMB until November 16, 2018.
